^1:1 當士師秉政的時候，國中遭遇饑荒。在猶大、伯利恆，有一個人帶著妻子和兩個兒子往摩押地去寄居。 In the days when the judges ruled, \f 1:1 Traditionally ((judged)) there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab.
^1:2 這人名叫以利米勒，他的妻名叫拿俄米；他兩個兒子，一個名叫瑪倫，一個名叫基連，都是猶大的伯利恆的以法他人。他們到了摩押地，就住在那裏。 The man's name was Elimelech, his wife's name Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.
^1:3 後來拿俄米的丈夫以利米勒死了，剩下婦人和她兩個兒子。 Now Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons.
^1:4 這兩個兒子娶了摩押女子為妻，一個名叫俄珥巴，一個名叫路得，在那裏住了約有十年。 They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years,
^1:5 瑪倫和基連二人也死了，剩下拿俄米，沒有丈夫，也沒有兒子。 both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.
^1:6 她就與兩個兒婦起身，要從摩押地歸回；因為她在摩押地聽見耶和華眷顧自己的百姓，賜糧食與他們。 When she heard in Moab that the LORD had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, Naomi and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.
^1:7 於是她和兩個兒婦起行離開所住的地方，要回猶大地去。 With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.
^1:8 拿俄米對兩個兒婦說：「你們各人回娘家去吧。願耶和華恩待你們，像你們恩待已死的人與我一樣！ Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, <<Go back, each of you, to your mother's home. May the LORD show kindness to you, as you have shown to your dead and to me.
^1:9 願耶和華使你們各在新夫家中得平安！」於是拿俄米與她們親嘴。她們就放聲而哭， May the LORD grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.>>Then she kissed them and they wept aloud
^1:10 說：「不然，我們必與你一同回你本國去。」 and said to her, <<We will go back with you to your people.>>
^1:11 拿俄米說：「我女兒們哪，回去吧！為何要跟我去呢？我還能生子作你們的丈夫嗎？ But Naomi said, <<Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands?
^1:12 我女兒們哪，回去吧！我年紀老邁，不能再有丈夫；即或說，我還有指望，今夜有丈夫可以生子， Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me--even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons--
^1:13 你們豈能等著他們長大呢？你們豈能等著他們不嫁別人呢？我女兒們哪，不要這樣。我為你們的緣故甚是愁苦，因為耶和華伸手攻擊我。」 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the LORD's hand has gone out against me!>>
^1:14 兩個兒婦又放聲而哭，俄珥巴與婆婆親嘴而別，只是路得捨不得拿俄米。 At this they wept again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-by, but Ruth clung to her.
^1:15 拿俄米說：「看哪，你嫂子已經回她本國和她所拜的神那裏去了，你也跟著你嫂子回去吧！」 <<Look,>> said Naomi, <<your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.>>
^1:16 路得說：「不要催我回去不跟隨你。你往哪裏去，我也往那裏去；你在哪裏住宿，我也在那裏住宿；你的國就是我的國，你的　神就是我的　神。 But Ruth replied, <<Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
^1:17 你在哪裏死，我也在那裏死，也葬在那裏。除非死能使你我相離！不然，願耶和華重重地降罰與我。」 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.>>
^1:18 拿俄米見路得定意要跟隨自己去，就不再勸她了。 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
^1:19 於是二人同行，來到伯利恆。她們到了伯利恆，合城的人就都驚訝。婦女們說：「這是拿俄米嗎？」 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, <<Can this be Naomi?>>
^1:20 拿俄米對他們說：「不要叫我拿俄米〔就是甜的意思〕，要叫我瑪拉〔就是苦的意思〕，因為全能者使我受了大苦。 <<Don't call me Naomi,>>1:20 ((Naomi)) means ((pleasant)); also in verse 21. she told them. <<Call me Mara,1:20 ((Mara)) means ((bitter.))because the Almighty 1:20 Hebrew ((Shaddai)); also in verse 21 has made my life very bitter.
^1:21 我滿滿地出去，耶和華使我空空地回來。耶和華降禍與我，全能者使我受苦。既是這樣，你們為何還叫我拿俄米呢？」 I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted 1:21 Or ((has testified against)) me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.>>
^1:22 拿俄米和她兒婦摩押女子路得，從摩押地回來到伯利恆，正是動手割大麥的時候。 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.

八月十四日「若不是從上頭賜給你的，你就毫無權柄辦我。」約翰福音十九章11節凡是臨到一個信靠順服神的人身上的事情，沒有一件不是神的旨意。這就足彀叫我們不息地感謝讚美了。因為神的旨意是世上最有希望的、最快活的、最榮耀的東西；祂也是全能的；只要我們肯順服信靠，沒有東西能阻止祂。一個深受痛苦的人寫信給他的朋友說：「不管這件事情多麼不公正，多麼像出乎撒但，但我一想到這事臨到我，是神的旨意，並且是叫我得益處的，我就立刻覺得榮耀了。」感謝神，我們曉得萬事都互相效力，叫愛神的人得益處。就是被賣這一件事，基督尚且說：「我父所給我的那杯，我豈可不喝呢？」（約十八11），如果我們生活在神的旨意中，我們的生活是何等佳美？撒但給我們的一切襲擊，不但無力傷害我們，並且在半路上都已經變成祝福了。　　　　　　　　　　─H.W.S. 神的旨意像一個圈，　我站在這圈的中間，一切都由祂而來，　一切都美滿，因為我一生都由祂成全。我是否將經歷苦難？　我知道那樣最有益，雖然我說不出理由，　我能信靠，就有福澤，神即愛，神即信義，　因此我得美滿的安息。有陰影，也有陽光，　有歡欣，也有痛苦，主，我信靠您，兩者都需要，　都司訓練您的子民，我們祗知道，在人世的喪失，　往往會補償於天府。　　　　　　　　　　─J.G.W.

■ 英文荒漠甘泉（08月14日）

August 14 "Thou couldst have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above." (John 19:11.) 　ＮOTHING that is not God's will can come into the life of one who trusts and obeys God. This fact is enough to make our life one of ceaseless thanksgiving and joy. For "God's will is the one hopeful, glad, and glorious thing in the world;" and it is working in the omnipotence for us all the time, with nothing to prevent it if we are surrendered and believing. 　One who was passing through deep waters of affliction wrote to a friend: "Is it not a glorious thing to know that, no difference how unjust a thing may be, or how absolutely it may seem to be from Satan. by the time it reaches us it is God's will for us, and will work for good to us? For all things work together for good to us who love God. And even of the betrayal, Christ said, "The cup which my Father gave me, shall I not drink it?" We live charmed lives if we are living in the center of God's will. All the attacks that Satan, through others' sin, can hurl against us are not only powerless to harm us, but are truned into blessings on the way. 　　　　　　　　　　─H. W. S. ■ 永活之泉（08月14日）

八月十四日　十字架的死亡「『父啊！我將我的靈魂交在您手裏！』說了這話，氣就斷了。」路加福音廿三章46節像大衛在詩篇卅一篇5節所說，基督將靈魂每日的生命和需要交在神手中，但此處有些特別新鮮的意義，祂若將自己的靈魂置於死亡權下，受之管轄，並放在黑暗而死陰的墳墓中，不能思想也不能禱告，但祂降服自己在神手中，信靠神在黑暗中照顧祂，並再次使祂復活。假如我們實在死於基督裏，現在憑信心每天和祂同死，我們就要基督照所說的，恨惡並失去生命。我們死在亞當裏，因我們從亞當所承受的，是死亡的生命，乏善可陳，也無屬天生命的本質。由於內部的敗壞，使我們從世界所得的整個生命必須死；除非治死老我或「舊人」，否則無法有真正的聖潔。很多人沒有治死自我而渴望靠自己的本性能在神面前活著，但都失敗了，因為一粒麥子若不死，絕不能活；治死老我是真虔誠的根本，若非死亡，則屬靈的生命無法成長。但或有人問道，要如何才能得到基督死的心志，像基督一像把自己擺在神面前？除我們與耶穌一樣說：「父啊！我將我的靈魂交在您手中！」單純而絕對的依靠神賜下新生命，否則我們無法得到；神奇妙應許的話，成就在我們這些相信神將基督從死裏復活的大能大力之人身上。這實在是真信心的考驗：每時刻絕對依靠神藉聖靈，親自直接而不斷賜與的屬靈生命。

八月十四日　管教「你不可輕看主的管教，被祂責備的時候，也不可灰心。」希伯來書十二章5節消滅聖靈是很容易的；比如輕看主的管教，一受責備灰心喪志，如果我們僅有成聖膚淺的經驗，我們就將影子當作真實，神的靈來指責的時候，我們反說──「啊，那必是魔鬼！」千萬不要消滅聖靈，當祂向你說──「不要在這點上再作瞎子；當明白你還沒有達到你所想到的地方。直到現在，我不能把它啟示給你，但是我現在要啟示了」──這些話，你不可輕視。當主像那樣管教的時候，讓祂管教好了。讓祂使你與神發生正當的關係。「被祂責備的時候，也不可灰心。」我們對神有不悅之色，而且說──「好，我沒有辦法；我曾祈求過，但事情並沒有好轉，我要放棄一切了。」如果我們在任何其他事上像這樣說，將有何結果哩！我是準備讓神用祂的能力握住我，在我裡面做一種與祂有價值的工作麼？成聖不是我希望神照我的意思；是神照自己的意思叫我們成聖，祂必要使我們具有這種心靈的態度，無論付甚麼代價，我仍然讓祂使我完全成聖。

■ 中文上海嗎哪（08月14日）

八月十四日「……不可難為我受膏的人，也不可惡待我的先知。」詩篇一百零五篇15節我寧可被雷劈，也不願說一句反對基督僕人的話語。我寧可為電流所擊，也不願輕易地說主僕人的壞話，像那些用誹謗話語中傷弟兄姊妹的人。或許我們會問：為什麼我們無法得醫治？為什麼沒有聖靈的喜樂？為什麼我們的生命中沒有祝福也沒有財富？這可能是因為我們在話語上中傷了人，更得罪了神。再說，我們若惡待他人，往往也會遭到同樣的禮遇。願我們牢記，當我們迫害或是譭謗神的兒女時，事實上我們乃是在迫害祂，同時更是大大地傷害我們自己。主啊！求您使我們對他人的感覺及權利更為敏感，就像對我們自己那樣敏感一般。求您使我們像您一樣地愛人，為他人而活。
